Sunny up north...

Posted by Jude

We had a lovely visit from my Scottish friends, Jo & Jamie recently. They didn't have much time over here so we decided to whisk them up to them North Coast for the weekend with the promise of some Black Bush and Guinness. Jo has just announced the great news that she is pregnant, but we all agreed that at least a half pint was required for nutritional purposes, which she quite enjoyed.

Despite the boys' not too subtle hints on Saturday that there was football on at noon, the first Rugby match at 2.30pm and the second at 5pm we still managed to fit in a walk around the Giant's Causeway (followed by Football watching in 'The Nook'), a nosey around Portstewart (whilst the Rugby watching commenced in the Anchor), and a whiskey in The Bushmills Inn (followed by, you've guessed it, more Rugby watching).  We then had a lovely dinner and a mammoth Jenga tournament when our friends Gary & Christine joined us with their little boy Toby. A great breakfast in Portrush awaited us on Sunday, which we worked off with a walk along the beach. The sun was shining, which made for some nice photos. I was using Dougie's old Canon Powershot G5, which may be dated now (I do love it's retro styling) but it gets me the results I'm after and just about fits in a deep pocket.

A brief visit it may have been, but there is nothing like bombing up the M2 on a Friday to start a great relaxing weekend. Taking the long coastal road home was very scenic - but it began to lose it's charm when we realised that they might miss the boat! We just made it though, and didn't even have to use the 'pregnant lady coming through' line......
